CANDLE CARE

You Asked, We Answered

WHAT IS IN SEATTLE CANDLE GIRL CANDLES?

The better question is, what is NOT in SCG Candles. They are made with high-quality perfume oil blends and/or essential oil blends. There are no harsh chemicals such as phthalates or parabens, carcinogens, lead, artificial colorings, or any "gunk" that is bad for you.
Our candles are made with 100% natural soy wax and are vegan, no beeswax is used. We chose soy because it burns clean (no soot in the air), and is a natural, renewable resource- it's biodegradable!
We are candle "snobs" and only use the best, non-toxic ingredients for our homes and yours.

MY CANDLES DON'T LOOK PERFECT- ARE THEY STILL GOOD TO USE?

Handmade candles should not look factory-made perfect. Some batches the tops aren't always super smooth, or the wax "frosts" onto the glass that gives it a wet spot look (this is called glass adhesion). Texture and appearance can vary. None of these imperfections affect the candle- we view them as "candle quirks" as they are characteristics of a soy wax candle made without preservatives or paraffin wax. In fact, we appreciate that our candles appear handmade and not big factory produced- a little reminder that a real person (me! Kaylie!) created your candle, handmade with love.

HOW DO I CARE FOR MY SEATTLE CANDLE GIRL CANDLES?

The first time you light your SCG Candle, treat her right! Be sure you can commit the time to let the top burn completely (don't light it and blow it out five minutes later). "Tunneling" can occur if you don't let the top melt completely on the first burn, a full melt will take about 90 minutes depending on the size of your candle.
Always keep the wick trimmed to 1/4" and burn it safely (heat resistant surface, don't leave it unattended, let candle cool completely before handling... 'ya know, common sense stuff.)
Our SCG candles are hand-poured into reusable glass jars or tins that we selected with the hopes that you would reuse the containers once the candle is gone. We love "upcycling" candle containers and encourage you to do the same! It's easy to clean them out- we like to put our jars in the freezer for a while, then pop out the wax. Wash the jar well (or toss in the dishwasher!) and voila!

WHAT IS THE RETURN/EXCHANGE POLICY?

We will gladly work with you to replace a product that arrives in a less-than-perfect state; such as cracked or chipped glass.
Because our candles are handmade, and made with soy wax; there may be a variance in appearance that appear during the candle creation process, or change due to temperature. The candle is still safe to use with these variances. Returns, refunds or exchanges are not offered due to candle wax appearance.

WHAT SHOULD I DO WITH THE GLASS ONCE THE CANDLE IS GONE?

We source high-quality glass jars for our candles, with the hope that you will reuse them after they are done being a candle. The tumblers are used in some restaurants as drinking glasses!
Our instagram has a story on "how to clean out candle jars".
For local customers (within 10 miles of the SeaTac Airport), we will gladly take back the clean glass once you are finished, in exchange for a $1 off your next purchase.

SEATTLE CANDLE GIRL CARES.

Seattle Candle Girl's real name is Kaylie. I'm currently in middle school and I started my candle company with a small loan from my mom. For each candle sold, I save a portion towards my college fund. Right now, my goal is to sell five candles a day until I start college! I also plan to donate a portion of proceeds to local charities in my area, and where I volunteer.
